What happens on the opposite part of the world. We got the latest reports from Australia.

We are very proud to present our reporter from Australia, a reporter who will give us the
latest news and information of a country far away.

We based our lines on the famous Homerbrents, from which we have, continually imported stock,
confidently, throughout the years. With a later infusion from another great kennel, stock was
also imported from the Alansmeres. We feel we have a type of Cavalier, which is an
acceptable representative of our lovely breed To date, Kabob Kennels have imported
and owned, six Cavaliers from the UK, all six we made Aust Champions. We have
imported five from New Zealand and made two of them Aust Champions. We
have bred twenty two Australian Champions and two Aust/USA Champions

One of the first of the Specialty Shows in Australia was held by the Victorian Cavalier Club, their Open Parade , on 4^th March with an entry of 79 Cavaliers , judged by Mr Alan Mae (Chalsmae)

Ch Ricksbury Royal Liason(imp uk)/Heronsbridge Lovely Lawra(imp uk) started their new year off well with gaining his title in grand style. At a double header , held at Gladstone , Royal Adventure won Best in Group and Australian
Bred of Show the first day and then won Best in Group and Runnerup Best in Show the second day.

Young teenage exhibitour Kerryanne Ware of QLD is enjoying success in the showring with her homebred Cavaliers, titling three Champions the last twelve months. Her latest KINGSCOURT BLAZN SADDLES gained her crown with Best Breed in Brisbane recently

Another new exhibitour Mandy Keinetz of Victoria started off her breeding programme with success, when she titled her Ch BLACKTREE CATCHME KISSME from her first bred litter .

Two Cavalier  owners from West Australia, Bev Hansen and Maxine Van Elzen have just returned from UK  and Ireland ,after taking in Crufts,Club Show, and also visiting some well known Kennels over there .They said the highlight of their visit was watching the  Cavalier Champions at the Club Show , 30 in number. Something also they’ll both remember is arriving at Birmingham Airport the night of the Club dinner from Ireland , the taxi driver taking two hours, plus 80pounds to get them to Malvern ,thus missing predinner drinks and half of their meal .

Have just finished reading and devouring the latest  UK’S Book of Champions, now in colour, and also Graeme Fords 2005 Edition of Cavalier at Championship Shows. Both these books are an asset to any Cavalier enthusiast, and worth acquiring.

We here in Australia  are fortunate to have a very good Website ANZ CAVALIERS. Constructed and moderated by David Mc Cullock and Trish Fernleigh Members are from all over Australia and New Zealand plus other overseas countries .Results of shows worldwide, plus topics pertaining to our breed are always appreciative and available.

A popular  Show on the Show Calender worldwide, is the  USA NATIONALS. Hear Australian Cavalier folk, David Mc Cullock , Jeannie Montford and Bev Genders are making the trip this May .One of the judges this year Dianne Tyssen(Prestonville) New Zealand  is being joined by other New Zealandanders  Sue Pinnow and Janine King also for the trip.

New South Wales Cavalier Club Champ Show in Sept 2006 has a change of judge . Due to ill health Miss A Bubb(UK) is replaced by Mr B. Embleton(UK)-Bardenji

Here goes with my first report from
“Down under Australia”

Australia is divided into seven states. Of these seven, there are Officiated Cavalier Clubs in
four of these.

In the North East, The Queensland CKCSC has one Specialty Championship show and one Open Show
a year. In 2006 they will be conducting their first double header Champion Show in July with the Pascavale Boys from UK Officiating.

South East is New South Wales CKCSC, who has two specialty Champions Shows, one in March/April and one in September, plus one Open Show in June. They conducted their first two days shows this year in September which was a huge success with Mrs. Lorainne Gillespie (UK) officiating the Open Shows was judges by Mr. Burton (NSW)

Further south is the Canberra CKCSC, who has a double header Specialty Champion Show in November, the 2005 shows being officiated by the Lamonts of Ireland.

Going Further south again is the Victorian CKCSC, who have a two day Specialty Champion Show in June, Plus an Open Parade once a year. The 2005 Champion Show was officiated by Mrs M Hogan (UK) and the Open Parade by Mr. B van Geyzel (VIC)

Travelling west is the South Australian CKCSC, who have a two day Specialty Champion Show in May and a Open Show once a year. The Champion Show was judged by Mr. James McQuaid (UK)

All of the Specialty Clubs are expertly run by Cavalier folk, and all command good entries from exhibitors travelling from all over Australia. Many exhibitors using airtravel because of the vast distance they have to travel between states. Entries usually range from 80 to over 300 at each show.

As well as the specialty shows each state has a “Royal” show. These shows usually run from 4 to 10 days each breed on an allotted day. The last day is always the group and general special judging. Royal shows are held in the capital of each state but there are actually two states that have two other so called Royal Shows. Those being in Queensland and Tasmania

Each state has a governing canine body who manage all breeds and specialty clubs, along with the agricultural shows. These agricultural shows, along with other pure bred animals conduct a Champion Show as well.

The showing season in Australia goes all year round. In the warmer months evening shows becoming more popular, starting around 3 PM (15:00) to 4PM (16:00) and finishing around 11PM (23:00). Day shows usually starts at 8:30AM to 9AM and go through the day until late afternoon.

Up next, I will share with you the result of all the specialty shows in 2005 plus all the judges for 2006.
