Breeder Portrait - Pringels Cavaliers, Sweden

We proudly present our first “breeder portrait”. This time we went to Pringels Cavaliers on the
south side of Sweden, Båstad to be précis. We had pen and notebook ready- to ask many hard
and tough questions. So we put the breeder, exhibitor, Pia Andersson against the wall…

”Animals has always had a big influence in my life, dog has always been in my family home, but I didn’t get one of my own until the day I moved from home, it was a golden retriever called “Frida” except from tea her matrix was taken at 11 years of age she was healthy fit as a fiddle until the day she past away 13½ years old.

But the true fire in my heart at young years was the horses.

I started a stud farm 1987 & was breeding full-blooded Arabs and Welsh ponies I a small scale, we where on plenty of exhibits and my entire life was built around that. But with the years came a business cycle and I started to increase the amount of horses, but that thing of breeding I couldn’t let go and it was in that moment I started to think of starting a small kennel and after back and forth did the decision ands whit the  lovely bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which I never regretted. Golden Retriver has always been in our family but I wanted a smaller dog that fitted as a family dog.

So after a great deal of searching I bought my first cavalier 1995, Vouges Konstance so in time we speak are 10 years old and still has a clear heart that pleases me much.

A few years later I was shown a photo on a exceptional beautiful Bleinheim dog  Nord.Ch Magic Charm's Indian Warrior, that a became so attached to that I contacted  Kennel Magic Charm and both a dog sired after him, Jörsi's Just A Fan-Tc and son follow by a bitch Magic Charm's Pretty Lady. And so it went on, a few imports from Norway and UK has it been until time of date.

A couple of years later I bought Loranka's Moon magic after GBCH Loranka's Celebration, most winning dog 2001-2002.  After that came Such Turretbank Limelight, a dog I believe extremely much in. And my latest is another dog, Magic Charm's Montana.

What it becomes of this dogs can only the future tell.

My goal is to breed sound breed typical dogs with a nice temper hum
is the charisma whit the breed cavalier and in hope will live many long
years with their owners.”

We put the breeders against the wall - Question time!

What’s the most
importent in  your
breeding program?
On that I have to answer the health, but breed typical and temper is there to, it’s nothing wrong trying to get it all even if it’s hard.

What do you look for
when you buy a puppy?
The first is the head and the expression witch is impotent to me, I want a soft expression whit big round eyes that is correct placed, that not is the easiest to get. A puppy in harmony shaped body whit sound movement, a puppy whit attitude they always stick out.

Who in your mine has
meant the most for;
A: Sweden?
B: your own breeding?
A: Here I have to say 3dogs, all champions;
Kindrum Gillespie, Craigowl Crackerjack and Craigowl Neilson

Witch moment is the
biggest in dog sport?
There are several occasions one was when the first litter was born and when
Pringel’s Isadora became Champion...

The worst? I don’t think I got one!

What kind of a judge
do you prefer?
A judge that makes me feels welcome in the ring. The one who see the harmonies in the
entire dog and have the guts to use the whole judgement and colour scale and that judges
after not which holds the leach

Is it something in the
dog sport you would
like to change?
A better corporation between breeders, we have so much to learn from each other.

Describe the perfect
puppy buyer?
The family that has thought true the buy very carefully and have studied the cavalier, the ones who make shore they have time for the puppy and not work too much. The cavalier is a faceted breed who likes to be activated. It’s always nice when a puppy buyer keeps in touch, people is always so positive to theirs dogs. That makes me happy. And when someone calls after recommendation after a earlier puppy buyer, it’s the best certificate you can get.

Do you have some Advise
to new breeders??
Keep a good contact to your first dog’s breeder, that’s the one who has the knowledge of your dog and dog’s lines that’s invaluable for you as a new breeder. Listen and learn and don t be afraid to ask. And in front of all, have the Courage to sieve dogs that doesn’t stand the test when it comes to quality and health. There are no shortcuts ones you in to breeding. Take a course, there’s so much to learn, you never be complete.

Do you have any advice
for new dog showers?
Train the contact whit the dog, then its grooming, diet and exercise and another imported ingredient to keep the hole part together. Visit dog shows look first on the breed and other breeds, look at experienced handlers how they do. Go to show training, go a handler course and so on…

Do you have any
other interest except
for cavaliers?
Plenty, don’t know in witch end I will start, but a good dinner whit friends is a bigwig, photo shooting, read, out to travel, I’m still soft for horses…but the time isn’t an off for everything I want to do.

What makes you happy? Its so much, but especially glad is when the older dog passes the heart test at the veterinary. To see new litter come to the world and watch them grow up, that is still wonderful just like in the beginning. A flock of loose happy running dogs on a beach walk.

What’s make you angry?

I don’t get exact angry or mad, but what’s sadly is the back talking of a dogs and their breeders just in purpose to hurt, the only thing that Leeds to is that the entire spices becomes suffering by doing that. If the energy taken for that was twisted and instead giving it to the own dogs should everybody feel much better. We are grownups and perhaps its time to take a step out the sandbox and started to behave after that, how ever we are in to the same breed and I do wane believe that we lead the breed in front of us not stepping back

Is it so hard to share others happiness, its not to give congratulations to the ones that wins, that’s good manners, some upbringing we must have been learned.
And the same goes for not serious breeders that whiteout knowledge and caring for the breed just breeds for easy money and that to the cause of puppy buyers and other breeders... They don’t have a clue all the work behind a good solid breeding.
Assault and negligence of animals makes me crazy, there isn’t anything worst????

Why have you chosen the
breed Cavalier King
Charles Spaniel?
Easy, it’s a dog breed whit so many sides and so uncomplicated breed and so fantastically nice breed, this breed is habiting of large proportions, have you just got a cavalier under you roof you just wane have moor and moor
